Do you have rental property – or wish you did? Perhaps, you even have rental property and wish you didn’t? 🙂 If any of those apply to you, then today’s prayer for investment property and rental property is for you!
Investing in real estate can be a blessing if it’s done right, and a curse if it’s not.
The world will often tell you to use “OPM”–“other people’s money”–to purchase real estate. Lots of investment “gurus” like to brag about the amount of real estate on their balance sheet that they bought using other people’s money. They’ll even brag about the amount of their credit card bills each month–because sometimes they’ll put real estate expenses on their credit cards!
The problem is, those people often reach their financial end and quickly.
One of my favorite finance teachers, Dave Ramsey, talks about how he invested heavily in real estate when he was young. He used OPM and ran up a lot of debt. However, it was all pulled out from under him and he went bankrupt.
After that, he and his wife decided to run their finances based on God’s principles. They began to pay off their debt and rebuild their lives debt-free. Now, Dave teaches people all over the globe how to become wealthy God’s way–without debt.
Real estate can be a blessing, but not with debt.
Stay out of debt, beloved–even when the world tells you debt is okay. God’s way is ALWAYS better than the world’s way, and Romans 13:8 tells us:
“Owe no one anything except to love one another, for he who loves another has fulfilled the law.”
Also, Proverbs 22:7 says:
“The rich rules over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender.”
It all comes down to this question:
What’s your tolerance for disobeying God?
If we think we can obey God here and there, but not completely, we’ll never be as close with God as we should be. We’ll never live the victorious life Jesus died to give us. And although we may get blessed here and there, we’ll never be completely blessed until we walk in complete obedience.
Some Bible teachers will tell you it’s okay to accrue debt as long as it’s secured, like a mortgage.
I understand why they say that. But I hate my mortgages and no longer have tolerance for them. We are doing everything we can to sell what we don’t need and pay off the rest.
My heart is broken over these things. I want to obey God with everything I’ve got.
Including the handling of my finances. Including the non-usage of debt. Including paying off debt and investing wisely.
Long story short: God’s way is better. And regarding real estate investments, there’s nothing wrong with owning real estate. We should own real estate. God wants us to own real estate. He wants us to inherit land.
But not with debt.
So today I am praying for your investment properties.
I’m praying for them to be safe and profitable. I’m praying for them to be paid off and completely debt-free. I’m praying for you to acquire investment property–DEBT-FREE–if the Lord desires you to have it. But we’re praying for all of it in accordance with God’s will, which is clearly outlined in His Word.
